School Support Specialist, Assistant to the Dean of Students

Bishop Ireton High School, a Catholic, co-educational, college preparatory high school serving 950 students in Alexandria, seeks a School Support Specialist, Assistant to Dean of Students. The position supports the school mission and positive student success as well as the safe, healthy and effective operation of the school day in a faith-filled environment. The primary duties include enforcing school policies and protocols, supervising spaces and managing students within the school campus, and collaborating with administrators on supervision needs. This position reports to the Dean of Students, and works closely with the Dean of Students’ Office, the Director of Security, the Student Life Office and the Principal. Other specific responsibilities are outlined below:

Areas of Responsibility for the School Support Specialist, Assistant to the Dean of Students:

? Enforce school policies & protocols;

? Support, guide and direct students and assist faculty and staff with implementation of school policies and protocols;

? Manage and support the daily entry for students;

? Monitor hallways, dining hall and all school spaces according to Dean’s plan;

? Support with the check-in and/or check-out process to the Dean’s office;

? Observe and report to school administrators any patterns and circumstances that could have a detrimental effect on the school environment;

? Ability to follow instructions and execute school operational plans;

? Ability to build rapport with students while maintaining discipline and policy;

? Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;

? Ability to present and effectively convey information to staff and students;

? Ability to work from 7:05AM – 3:05PM

? Additional hourly opportunities for afterschool event supervision
