Job Type Full-time, Contract Description

The primary goal of this role is to provide a leadership and administrative oversight function, plus ministerial support for both High School and Middle School students, as well as towards parents and staff, with specific regard to student, campus, and community health & safety, discipline, events, safety, and wellness -- all in accordance with the philosophy, policies, and procedures embodied by Monte Vista Christian School.

Essential Job Duties

  • Collaboration and shared management with both HS and MS administrative team.
  • In collaboration with the Facilities Manager and Assistant Head of School
    • provide oversight of, and meaningful communication around, campus safety (including health & safety) protocols and crisis management processes,
    • monitor CDPH/CDC guidelines and requirements, and take necessary action(s), in the interests of promoting health & wellness for all on campus,
    • and management and facilitation of faculty, parent, and student safety and wellness training/resources, facilitating the Care Team and working with support staff.
  • Oversight and daily carrying out of the Student/Parent Handbook policies, with emphasis on setting and resetting student expectations.
  • Provision of both advocacy and accountability for students.
  • Participation in and supervision of school events, working with student leadership organizations and MVC Administration.
  • Oversight of daily campus supervisor(s).
  • Actively support and participate in the development of the spiritual growth of those on our team and in our community.
  • Other duties, projects, tasks, and responsibilities, as assigned.
Requirements

Any combination of education and/or relevant professional experience providing the necessary and required skill(s)/knowledge for successful job performance is acceptable:

  • Must be an exemplary Christian role model, demonstrating strong Christian character in word and deed.
  • Must have knowledge of restorative discipline philosophy and adolescent development.
  • Minimum Masters degree required, certificated credential preferred.
  • At least 4-5 years experience in secondary education.
  • Self-motivated and has the ability to motivate others.
  • Demonstrates leadership skills with a strong team player attitude.
  • Maintains the highest levels of integrity and confidentiality.
  • Energetic, personable, and dependable.
  • Has the ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to safely lift up to 30+ lbs.
  • Ability to operate relevant office equipment.
  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, and/or squat for prolonged periods of time.
  • Work outside occasionally, over multiple terrains, and in varying weather conditions, as needed.

Additionally, the employee agrees that he or she shall do nothing to his or her relationship with MVC to undermine its Christian mission or efforts. Finally, the employee further agrees and understands that his or her services are a necessary part of MVCs Christian work, and that his or her conduct must conform to the schools formal Standards of Conduct and Statement of Faith, as listed in both the schools employment application and MVC Employee Handbook.

At Will Employment

Employee understands and acknowledges that, unless otherwise defined by applicable law, any employment relationship with MVC is of an at will nature, which means that the Employee may resign at any time and the Employer may discharge the Employee at any time, with or without cause. It is further understood that this at will employment relationship may not be changed by any written document or by conduct, unless the MVC Head of School specifically acknowledges such change in writing.
