PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The School Psychologist Internship provides supervised training in a range of
assessment, consultation, and intervention activities across diverse student populations.
The intern is responsible for supporting the evaluation of students with academic,
emotional, social, and behavioral concerns under the direct supervision of a licensed
School Psychologist, in accordance with state and federal guidelines. The intern will
actively contribute to special education evaluations, campus consultation, and the
development of support plans in compliance with IDEA and Texas regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree and near completion of a master's, specialist, or doctoral degree in
School Psychology or closely related field
Enrollment in a NASP- or state-approved School Psychology training program that
includes a 1,200+ hour internship
Completion of required coursework and practicum experiences allowing the provision of
school psychological services under supervision
Meet Texas licensure eligibility for School Psychologist Intern status through the Texas
Behavioral Health Executive Council (BHEC)
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Working knowledge of best practices in psychoeducational evaluation and consultation
Familiarity with emotional and behavioral disorders including Emotional Disturbance,
Autism, and ADHD
Understanding of evidence-based behavioral interventions and MTSS/RTI processes

Knowledge of IDEA, FAPE, Child Find, and relevant Texas Education Agency (TEA)
regulations
Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with professional ethics
Technological proficiency in psychological report writing and data analysis tools
Experience:
Practicum experience in a school setting, including evaluation, consultation, and
intervention (required)
Experience with ARD/IEP processes, FIE development, and behavioral intervention
planning (preferred)
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Under the supervision of a certified School Psychologist, the intern will:
Evaluation & Assessment
Participate in campus staffing and ARD preparation meetings
Conduct classroom observations and collect assessment data
Assist in determining appropriate evaluation tools and conducting psychoeducational
assessments
Score and interpret cognitive, behavioral, social-emotional, and adaptive measures
Draft psychological reports and contribute to multidisciplinary team findings
Recommend eligibility and programming based on evaluation results
Consultation & Collaboration
Consult with parents, teachers, and school staff on student needs and evaluation results
Participate in developing individualized education programs (IEPs)
Support the implementation of behavior intervention plans and MTSS strategies

Collaborate with special education, mental health, and campus teams to address student
concerns
Professional Practice
Demonstrate professionalism, ethics, and responsible decision-making
Attend and participate in weekly supervision meetings
Follow directives and policies of Copperas Cove ISD and all applicable state and federal
regulations
Take initiative in developing professional skills aligned with job responsibilities
Maintain accurate records and protect student confidentiality
