The Dean of Students works cooperatively with the Assistant Provost for Student Affairs to create and maintain a positive campus environment. The Dean of Students provides direction and supervision to some the Student Affairs offices that contribute to the educational goals of the institution, enhance student learning outside of the classroom and promote awareness of the world they live in. The Dean of Students will report to the Assistant Provost for Student Affairs. Duties and Responsibilities: * Foster a Collegial and Inclusive Culture: Contribute to a welcoming and professional environment in the Student Affairs division, maintaining high standards of effectiveness and professionalism while promoting a collegial atmosphere. * Student Communication and Advocacy: Communicate University policies, announcements, and reminders to students, and work closely with Deans, faculty, and staff to support and advocate for students' academic, social, and professional development. * Departmental Coordination and Oversight: Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with key University departments, including University Police, Admissions, Financial Services, IT, and Academic Affairs. Serve as the University's chief student conduct officer, providing leadership and oversight for all student judicial affairs processes, including student conduct investigations, hearings, sanctions, and the hearing and appeals board. Collaborate with Academic Affairs to support and administer academic probation and disqualification processes in accordance with University policy. * Leadership and Mentorship: Provide supervision and mentorship for the Career Center, Counseling Center, and Diverse Abilities and Accommodations. Select and train members for the hearing and appeals board and chair the CARE team. * Strategic Initiatives and Collaboration: Work with the Assistant Provost for Student Affairs to identify and promote strategic initiatives for student engagement, retention, and quality education. Collaborate on planning and budgeting for the Student Affairs division and the university. * Event Coordination and Student Engagement: Coordinate key events such as Honors Convocation and Commencement Line Up, and build visibility and relationships with students through direct involvement in Residence Hall programming, student organizations, recreational sports, and dining activities. * Committee Involvement and Professional Development: Serve on various committees, including Academic Standing, TAPS, and Retention committees, and attend professional conferences to stay informed of best practices in Student Affairs. Required Skills and Preferred Qualifications: * Master's degree in Higher Education Leadership, Student Personnel, Student Affairs and Higher Education, Counseling, or related field. * 5 years of progressive full-time leadership experience in more than 1 area of student life. * Previous experience with the student conduct experience. * Thorough knowledge and understanding of current and emerging trends relating to promising practices in student affairs and student success and a commitment to excellence. * An active, energetic and well-organized personality with a sense of humor and collegiality. * A leadership philosophy that emphasizes an environment of accountability, collegiality and open communication. * Strong decision-making skills that demonstrate a sense of fairness, sensitivity, compassion, and objectivity. * An ability to facilitate a campus culture and climate of inclusion, accessibility, belonging and authentic commitment to diversity, multiculturalism, and equality. * Personal and professional integrity in the highest degree. * Familiar with Banner and Maxient.
