Position Type: Student Support Services/Occupational Therapist Date Posted: 5/28/2026 Location: District-Wide Date Available: 08/18/2026 Steamboat Springs School District is seeking highly qualified .5 FTE Occupational Therapist to join our Special Service Providers team for the 2026-2027 school year. Ideal candidates will have experience providing OT services to identified students at all PK-12 levels. Candidates will need to have or be able to secure the Colorado Department of Education Special Services Providers license by August 2026. SALARY INFORMATION: This position is scheduled part time .5 FTE. Placement based on a maximum of 9 years of OT licensed experience, verified full time experience and education. Salary for full time (185 day schedule) FTE, $60,018.00 - $84,264.00(PhD) per the current 2026-2027 special service provider salary schedule. Salary will be adjusted based on reduced FTE. See salary schedule here Position Summary: Occupational therapists work as part of a team including special and general educators, parents and community resources to provide occupational therapy (OT) services to students in the school environment. Services may be delivered directly to the child or on behalf of the child (consultation with parents and teachers). Professional Responsibilities: Evaluate and collect data through formal and/or informal evaluations, consultations, and clinical observations to determine the strengths and needs of the student; and plan goals/objectives to increase success for the occupation of the student Help design appropriate modifications and compensations for student's education in all areas of the school environment including the use of assistive technology Collaborate with the IEP Team (Speech-Language Pathologist, Psychologists, Counselors, Special and General Education Teachers, Principals, Support Staff, Paraprofessionals, Parents/Caregivers, Student) Directly or indirectly support the participation of the student so they can achieve what they need to be successful and as independent in school as possible (activities of daily living, self-help skills, school work, play, leisure, physical motor, and social/emotional development of interpersonal skills. Train OT assistants, Paraprofessionals, or Teachers in adaptation, modifications, specific programs related to OT services Determine need for OT services and complete legal documentation within the student's Individualized Education Program Monitor & track OT service programs Participate in and contribute to staff development in the areas of OT. Consultation or Indirect service may include any of the following: Consultation with the special education team members or general education teachers or other school staff Consultation with the student's parents or caregiver Consultation with the student Consultation with medical providers (with parent permission) Observation of the student in various settings (both academic & natural) Creating materials Adjusting or modifying adaptive equipment Attending meetings concerning the student (i.e. IEP, transition etc) Direct & indirect intervention services may occur: within the general education classroom, out of the general classroom, in specials or encore, in the lunch room, on the playground or any other academic natural environment. Additional duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree from an accredited institution in Occupational Therapy Valid Colorado special service provider license in Occupational Therapy Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with administrators, teachers, students and families, and community members. Ability to conduct studies, prepare reports and make oral presentations. Computer knowledge is required in computer-related subjects, and computer literacy is preferred for other content areas. Ability to maintain individual student records and class files. Ability to compile statistics for research and reports. Ability to discipline students in keeping with school and district procedures. Technology Skills: Proficient use of technology which includes: basic operations and concepts, word processing, spreadsheets, internet usage, critical evaluation of information, data analysis, email, integration of technology. Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in education. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form. Ability to copy, coordinate, instruct, evaluate and negotiate. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies. Ability to discipline students consistent with district procedures.
