The Kennett Consolidated School District is seeking an innovative, student-centered, and collaborative educational leader to serve as High School Principal. The successful candidate will provide visionary leadership for all aspects of the high school’s operation, fostering a positive school culture focused on academic excellence, student growth, staff development, and community engagement.

The High School Principal is responsible for the overall administration of the school, including supervision and evaluation of personnel, curriculum and instructional leadership, student and staff scheduling, budget management, student discipline and attendance, facility oversight, and collaboration with students, families, staff, and community stakeholders.

Kennett's uniquely diverse student population makes applicants considered to be fluent or bilingual highly sought. Applicants with at least three (3) Spanish courses at the college/university level or who have a command of conversational Spanish are encouraged to apply.

Essential Responsibilities

The High School Principal will:

  • Provide leadership for the overall operation and administration of the high school.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for all students and staff.
  • Lead continuous school improvement efforts focused on student achievement and instructional excellence.
  • Supervise, support, and evaluate professional and support staff.
  • Oversee curriculum implementation, instructional practices, and program evaluation.
  • Develop and manage the master schedule and coordinate student course selection processes.
  • Collaborate with department chairpersons, counselors, teachers, and district administrators to support student success.
  • Administer student discipline and attendance programs in a fair and restorative manner.
  • Prepare and manage the building budget and monitor expenditures.
  • Ensure compliance with district policies, state regulations, and reporting requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, staff, community members, and the Board of School Directors.
  • Supervise co-curricular and extracurricular programs.
  • Support facility operations and address building safety and maintenance concerns.
  • Participate in district committees, professional learning opportunities, and strategic initiatives.
  • Assist with staffing decisions, recruitment, and personnel recommendations.
  • Support ongoing building improvement and renovation projects.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent.
Qualifications

Candidates must possess:

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited institution, doctorate preferred..
  • Pennsylvania Principal Certification (K-12 or 7-12) required or the ability to obtain
  • Minimum of five (5) years of teaching experience.
  • Five (5) years of successful administrative experience
  • Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, families, and community members.
  • Ability to analyze data, solve complex problems, and make sound decisions.
  • Experience using technology to support educational and operational goals.
  • Familiarity with diverse cultures and the ability to communicate effectively with students and members of diverse communities.
  • Experience leading school improvement initiatives and collaborative professional learning.
  • Spanish proficient candidates are encouraged to apply
  • Current Act 34, Act 114, and Act 151 clearances.
Salary and Benefits
  • Twelve (12) month administrative position.
  • Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
  • Comprehensive benefits package in accordance with the Kennett Consolidated School District Administrative Act 93 Compensation and Benefits Plan.
