SUMMARY:
Upper St. Clair has an opening for a High School Head Principal. The incumbent will have overall instructional and administrative leadership responsibilities, including maintaining and enhancing the highest levels of academic performance and growth; ensuring the safety/welfare of students/staff; overseeing day-to-day building operations; recruiting of and providing professional development to staff; overseeing the school budget; and ensuring avid stewardship of District equipment and supplies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Student Focus (includes the following but not limited to):
- Responsible for the safety and security of approximately 1,200 students
- Develop, implement and administer student discipline policies, regulations, and guidelines for assigned student body
- Work with students and collaborate with their families on behavioral and academic matters, including interpreting the school’s program or discuss a student’s progress or conduct
- Conduct Student Support Team meetings
- Professional Staff Focus (includes the following but not limited to):
- Evaluate teachers through all required evaluation procedures, including classroom observation, and conduct teacher conferences in accordance with District, PDE and CBA policies and procedures
- Oversee the strategic assignment of instructional staff to the daily operational schedule
- Administrative Focus (includes the following but not limited to):
- Oversee the day-to-day building operations
- Develop and implement the building master schedule for student and staff placement
- Execute and administer School Board Policy and administrative regulations
- Serve and actively participate as a member of the District’s administrative leadership team
- Manage and direct all staffing processes, including the evaluation of staffing levels and the recommending of prospective candidates for hire to the Superintendent of Schools, and the administration of employee relations and disciplinary matters
- Work collaboratively with high school leadership team in the articulation process to include curriculum and development and instructional practices
- Serve as a liaison with the PTSO and other community organizations
- Assist in the development/implementation of professional development programming
- Serve as the LEA in IEP, GIEP and 504 plan meetings while working to ensure the implementation of services
- Operations/Building Focus (includes the following but not limited to):
- Act as a liaison to the Operations & Facilities Department and monitor maintenance work requests, including coordinating/monitoring the use and condition of the facility and work collaboratively with operations to resolve concerns
- Plan for fiscal operations, resource/supply management
- Coordinate building security (internal and external) and building emergency plan, collaborate with District Safety & Security Dept and Township Police
- Work collaboratively with all stakeholders within the school and school community abroad
- Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent/Designee; additional duties may be compensated via the administrative stipend as set forth in the Administrative Act 93 plan
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor and Masters degree in education required
- Minimum of 3 years administrative supervisory experience required (building level and/or Central Office)
- Minimum of 3 years in a teaching position at a High School Level preferred
- Valid PA teaching certification required
- Valid PA Principal certification required
