This contract role, available for the 2026-2027 school year (August 17 - June 11), offers the opportunity to work onsite with diverse learners who have mild to moderate disabilities. With a caseload of approximately 60 students, you'll collaborate with educators, families, and staff to promote success for every child.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
- Active Michigan School Psychologist certification or Preliminary School Psychologist Certification is required
- Official university transcripts must be submitted prior to placement consideration
- Previous school psychology or related agency experience preferred
- In-depth understanding of the Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education (MARSE) and related IDEA Federal Regulations
- Comfort and experience working in an urban school setting
- Ability to navigate conversations on the unique challenges and resources relevant to urban youth and families
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments, including cognitive, academic, adaptive, and social-emotional evaluation to determine special education eligibility
- Collaborate in developing early identification and intervention strategies for students facing academic, social, or emotional challenges
- Facilitate clear communication of psychological findings with parents, teachers, and administrators to support shared understanding and effective planning
- Ensure consistent implementation of special education policies and procedures across all assigned sites
- Participate regularly in team meetings, professional development, and in-service training to maintain best practices
- Contribute in cross-disciplinary teams with ongoing collaboration and support
- Perform additional relevant duties as needed
