Psychometrist Jobs

A Psychometrist in school administration is responsible for administering and scoring psychological and neuropsychological tests under the supervision of a licensed psychologist. They also participate in psychometric research studies and assist with the development of new testing materials. A Psychometrist is typically involved in conducting detailed clinical interviews, interpreting test results, and providing feedback to students, parents, and school administration. Their work is crucial in diagnosing and understanding various learning disabilities, behavioral issues, and other psychological conditions among students.

The role of a Psychometrist requires specialized skills in psychological testing, statistical analysis, and research methodology. One should also have strong communication skills to effectively interact with students, parents, and school staff. In terms of certification, the Board of Certified Psychometrists (BCP) offers a Certified Specialist in Psychometry (CSP) credential, which is typically required for this role. Prior to becoming a Psychometrist, an individual might have held positions such as a School Counselor, Clinical Research Assistant, or Psychological Testing Technician.
