Position Description Advertised Job Summary:
USCB invites applications for two part-time adjunct instructors to provide evening (4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.), Monday Thursday, and Sunday (4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.) research, instruction, interlibrary loan, and Makerspace management and support. The adjunct evening and weekend librarians will provide evening and weekend one-on-one, group, and in-classroom instruction, staff the research desk, monitor text, chat, and monitor the librarys mail accounts including ... and ... . In addition, these positions will provide back-up support for the access services functions and staff including covering the access services desk when needed, closing the library, assisting with PASCAL Delivers, interlibrary loan requests, and collection maintenance or weeding projects. These positions will also assist in managing the students working in the library and the Makerspace including assisting with projects, and monitoring work completion. When applicable, the library faculty will be available to provide library tours and participate in library events during their work hours. These positions will also be responsible for creating library-specific educational materials including handouts, guides, brochures, marketing materials, and tutorials. Projects could include developing and revising existing handouts and corresponding LibGuides, maintaining and updating existing subject and course LibGuides, developing new LibGuides based on the needs of the USCB community, creating new tutorials and revising and/or updating existing tutorials based on the needs of the USCB community, and expanding existing LibAnswers content and managing that content. When there are collection maintenance projects, such as weeding, shelf reading or shifting, the adjunct librarians will be expected to participate in these projects.
Qualifications:
Masters in library science or a masters degree in a closely related field with at least 18 graduate credit hours in library science, and experience providing research and instruction in an academic library setting. Experience overseeing student workers and library support staff is preferred. Knowledge or experience with a Makerspace is preferred. Previous access services work experience is preferred. Experience with interlibrary loan is preferred.
