QUALIFICATIONS:

Massachusetts Teachers licensure as a School Principal/Assistant Principal and/or Voc Tech Principal/Assistant Principal from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education is required. Master's Degree from an accredited college or university. Five years experience in a vocational/technical setting is preferred.

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

Reports directly to the school principal/assistant superintendent and has direct supervision of student discipline, security and student activities. The position also supports the principal/assistant superintendent in performing the duties of the principal/assistant superintendent's office.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for student affairs, discipline and security. This position reports to the Principal/Assistant Superintendent and assists in performing the duties of the Principal/Assistant Superintendent's Office.Responsible for student discipline to include cases that warrant suspensions and/or parental conferences.Responsible for the identification system for the student body, faculty, and staff.Supervise staff in the Assistant Principal's Office and School Security.Oversee student attendance to include:Distribute daily attendanceStudent dismissals, exclusive of medicalStudent latenessStudent attendance (with assistance from the Guidance Department) and Attendance SupervisorsStudent/staff parking permitsAssist with the organization and supervision of student assemblies and plays.Oversee the mediation/student conflict resolution program; also responsible for Peer Mediation.Work cooperatively with all staff members to maintain a safe school environment.Work cooperatively with the school resource officer, local police department and court officials.Oversee the Crisis Intervention Plans.In conjunction with the Assistant Principal and the Principal/Assistant Superintendent, the Assistant Principal will direct supervision of student affairs, for example: sports, extra curricular activities, graduation exercises, summer programs, clubs, classes and student organizations.Responsible for the supervision of ISS and administrative detention.Recommend updates and modifications to the student handbook in accordance with Chapter 74 regulations and school committee policy.Any other duties as required by the Superintendent and/or the Principal/Assistant Superintendent.
