We are seeking a dynamic and visionary leader to join the Birch Meadow Elementary School effective July 1, 2026, as an Interim Elementary Assistant Principal for the 2026-2027 school year. The Interim Assistant Principal will support the Principal in the educational programming, professional development, administration, budgetary planning, and discipline.

** This position works 210 days per academic year (185 school days plus 25 non-school days)**

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : The essential functions or duties listed below are illustrations of the type of work that is performed and is not an exhaustive list of the duties performed for by this position. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Works collaboratively with the principal to implement the district's and school’s vision, mission, and goals
  • Builds and maintains a safe, welcoming school environment that meets the academic, social and emotional needs of all students
  • Provides leadership to help enact the goals of the METCO program
  • Uses multiple data sources and types of data to appropriately monitor student progress and improve instruction
  • Ensures district curriculum, instructional approaches and assessments are implemented with consistency
  • Assists in the development and administration of school programs consistent with school district goals and objectives
  • Monitors student attendance in order to work with staff, students and families and works with staff to identify and address attendance concerns
  • Assists in the development and growth of staff members professional knowledge, skills and practice
  • Works with building principal to coordinate professional development for faculty and staff; provides instruction if needed
  • Conducts high quality classroom observations, identifies effective teaching practices and demonstrates content knowledge
  • Assists in the development and implementation of schedules
  • Creates and sustains positive relationships with families that demonstrate an understanding of culture and varying contexts
  • Encourages parental involvement in students’ educational experiences
  • Ensures that necessary maintenance and repairs to the school property are performed
  • Other duties as assigned by administration

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Ability to interact with various stakeholders to foster a positive relationship between the school and community including the PTO, community organizations, and leaders
  • Thorough knowledge of elementary instructional methodology and content
  • Knowledge of best practices in educational administration

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE :

Master’s degree and 5 years of teaching experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Principal/Assistant Principal License required. Strong internal candidates currently pursuing licensure will be considered.
