Job Summary:
The Dean of Students supports the principal in attainment of climate goals and initiatives through the management of student discipline. This may also include supporting PBIS and Restorative Practices and Responsive Classroom initiatives. The Dean also assists in professional development activities and supports administration in projects which promote positive school culture and climate.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Investigate and recommend appropriate consequences for student infractions
- Record disciplinary incidents in PowerSchool and alert staff to outcomes
- Utilize Restorative Practices and Responsive Classroom strategies as a proactive approach to student
discipline - Prepare coaching for teachers in the area of classroom management
- Assist the building administration with setting up school-wide PBIS initiatives
- Assist the building administration with communication to stakeholders
Required Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge/awareness of own cultural identity and how this influences behavior, and desire to learn about the cultural identity of others
Ability to establish and nurture an environment that promotes cultural competence and equitable treatment of staff, students and patrons of the District
Ability to recognize that each person is a unique individual even as we celebrate their group cultural heritage
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with District staff and administrators, students, parents or guardians, outside agencies, and the public, in a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural multilingual environment
Ability to receive and implement feedback to improve practice and systems
- Must have expertise in Excel and Microsoft Word; ability to collect, analyze, and report data.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers.
- Must possess excellent interpersonal skills
- Must be cooperative, congenial, and service-oriented
- Must be able to work in an environment with frequent interruptions
Education & Exeperience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Education from accredited college or university required, Master's Degree preferred.
- Valid Pennsylvania Certification: Principal K-12 required.
- At least 5 years of teaching experience in public education required.
- Instructional 2 teaching certification required.
- Experience working with PowerSchool desired.
Pre-employment Paperwork Requirements:
- Pennsylvania Criminal Background Check, FBI Fingerprinting Background Check, Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance
- Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure release (Act 168) forms
- School Personnel Health Record and TB Test
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to reach above and below the waist
- Ability to use fingers to pick, feel and grasp objects
- Ability to use both hands for repetitive motion
- Considerable bending and twisting of the body required
- Some stooping and squatting required
- Ability to lift and/or carry supplies and/or papers weighing no more than 25 lbs.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time during the workday
Level of Compensation: Salary set in accordance to the formal agreement with the Board of School Directors. This is a full-time position under the Act 93 contract group.
