Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program.
- Valid Pennsylvania Licensed Social Worker (LSW) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) credential, as applicable.
- Valid Pennsylvania Department of Education certification as a School Social Worker PK-12
- Knowledge of child development, crisis intervention, trauma-informed practices, behavioral supports, attendance interventions, and community resources.
- Knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, FERPA, McKinney-Vento, mandated reporting requirements, and related educational laws and regulations.
- Strong communication, collaboration, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, families, staff, and community agencies.
- Ability to maintain accurate documentation and manage multiple student support responsibilities.
- Experience providing social work services in a school, pediatric, mental health, or community-based setting, experience with early intervention students preferred.
- Experience supporting students with behavioral, emotional, mental health, attendance, or family-related concerns.
- Experience with MTSS, SAP, restorative practices, trauma-informed practices, and crisis response procedures.
- Experience collaborating within multidisciplinary educational teams and community service networks.
- Experience supporting students experiencing homelessness, foster care placement, or involvement with outside agencies.
Description:
The School District of Springfield Township is seeking candidates who possess excellent interpersonal skills, the desire to work with energetic students, and the ability to relate well within the school community. This position will be a School Social Worker at Enfield Elementary (K-2). SDST is committed to diversity in our workplace and welcomes the opportunity to consider all candidates.
Responsibilities:
- Provides individual, group, and family support services related to student social, emotional, behavioral, attendance, and mental health concerns.
- Conducts assessments, interviews, observations, and social-developmental histories to support student evaluations, interventions, and educational planning.
- Assists students and families in accessing school-based and community resources, supports, and social services.
- Collaborates with administrators, teachers, counselors, psychologists, nurses, and support staff regarding student concerns and intervention planning.
- Participates in IEP meetings, Section 504 meetings, MTSS meetings, SAP meetings, manifestation determination meetings, and multidisciplinary team meetings, as appropriate.
- Supports the transition of early intervention students into the K-12 system through home visits, document completion, and attendance at meetings
- Supports implementation of attendance improvement initiatives and interventions related to chronic absenteeism, truancy, and barriers to school participation.
- Assists with crisis intervention, conflict resolution, behavioral supports, suicide risk response, threat assessment processes, and emergency response activities, as assigned.
- Provides consultation and support to staff regarding trauma-informed practices, behavioral interventions, student wellness, and family engagement strategies.
- Assists families with navigating educational systems, community agencies, housing concerns, healthcare access, food insecurity, and related support services.
- Maintains accurate records, case notes, documentation, and reports in accordance with district procedures, legal requirements, and professional standards.
- Supports implementation of social-emotional learning initiatives, restorative practices, and student wellness programs.
- Collaborates with outside agencies, mental health providers, juvenile justice agencies, healthcare providers, and community organizations, as appropriate and authorized.
- Assists with McKinney-Vento support services and educational stability efforts for students experiencing homelessness, as assigned.
- Promotes positive school climate, student engagement, equity, and inclusive practices.
- Maintains confidentiality of student, personnel, medical, and operational information.
- Participates in required meetings, trainings, professional development activities, and licensure maintenance requirements.
